Best Overall

1. Backfire Zealot S

Backfire Zealot S
Speed: 28.5 MPH
Range: 22 MILES
Motor: 2x 750W (Belt)
Size: 39*9.3 INCHES
Weight: 17.6 LBS
Uphill: 30 DEGREE

The Good:

Powerful Motors
Perfect Combo of Speed and Range
Easy to handle
Great Performance

The Bad:

Needs more maintenance

Why We Like It:

Backfire Zealot S has set a standard for every Electric Longboard company out there. Zealot is like the representative of the whole Backfire Brand. It has got some good looks with the combination of tremendous Speed and a convenient Range.

Instead of using hub motors, Backfire used a belt-driven motor while making this beast. This feature makes the board one of the fastest on the list. With the help of the 2x 875W motors, this board can easily climb 30-degree slopes without losing its speed.

The Riding experience of this board is also very comfortable. Carve on it at high speed without worrying about the bumps and cracks, as the bamboo deck is flexible enough to absorb those impacts.

The 96mm wheels also do pretty well on the street. They have a firm grip and are appropriate for off-road as well, and the best part is that you can easily replace them with 105mm wheels to add to the stability.

This champ can handle up to 260 lbs (120 kg). At the same time, the board itself weighs 18.7 lbs (8.5 kg) with a length of 39 inches.

When you ride this board at night, the Ambient lights under the board give a cool and attractive look. There is also a remote control provided with this board, which is easy to handle and very comfortable. Using the remote, you can adjust between the three riding modes: Eco, Sport, and Turbo.

The only drawback I can think of about this board is that the battery is a little bit big. Also, belt-driven e-boards require more maintenance than hub motor e-boards.

Our Verdict:

In conclusion, I’d say that this board is a pretty good steal. You can’t unsee the speed and range combo this board offers. Although it has got some minor problems, the overall experience is of this Electric Skateboard is flawless.

High Performance

2. SKATEBOLT Tornado II

SKATEBOLT Tornado II
Speed: 25 MPH
Range: 25 MILES
Motor: 2x 250W
Size: 38*11 INCHES
Weight: 19 LBS
Uphill: 25 DEGREE

The Good:

Extraordinary Range
Aesthetic Design
Impressive Speed
Great Performance

The Bad:

Not suitable for beginners

Why We Like It:

Skatebolt Tornado II is my personal favorite on the list, not for one but many reasons. It has a tremendous range, the board looks aesthetically pleasing, and with the addition of the red tail-lights, it seems like something from the future. All of this and many other distinct features are offered at a reasonable price.

Skatebolt Tornado II comprises eight layers of high-quality maple wood, which makes the board sturdy and durable.

Skatebolt also equipped this board with a high-powered 7500 mAh battery which explains the impressive range of the board (25 miles/40 km). In addition, the 2x 250W motors work impressively, helping the board to achieve a top speed of 25 mph/40 kmph.

The alloy-covered trucks give the board extra strength and stability. Talking about strength, this board has a load capacity of up to 280 lbs (127 kg). The board itself weighs about 19 lbs (8.6 kg) and has a length of 38 inches. This board is great for all types of skateboarders and even for people with big feet.

The 90mm wheels work great on both dirt and roads. The high built-quality allows the skateboard to ride through bumps and cracks with ease. Moreover, this board can climb 25-degree slopes with comfort even at a low battery.

The Skatebolt Tornado II comes with an incredibly designed remote control featuring a digital display allowing you to adjust between the four-speed modes. In addition, the brakes work efficiently. Even if you are at high speed, the brakes will work just fine and stop the board.

The brakes may feel very aggressive initially and may take a little practice to get used to. This board has also got Regenerative Brakes which is also a good feature.

Our Verdict:

In my opinion, the Skatebolt Tornado II is one of the best electric skateboard under $500. This board has got it all, whether it is the speed, Range Looks, Durability, control, or other features. All this is provided at a fraction of a cost as compared to its competitor.

Best Value for Money

WowGo 3X
Speed: 24 MPH
Range: 12 MILES
Motor: 2x 600W (Belt)
Size: 38*9 INCHES
Weight: 17.2 LBS
Uphill: 30 DEGREE

The Good:

Affordable
Great acceleration and braking
Incredibly well-built

The Bad:

Can’t be kick-pushed

Why We Like It:

WowGo 3X makes it to the top 10 list due to its premium quality built. It is armed with Paris V2 Front trucks and great quality bearings from Zealous. The WowGo 3X eboard is an improved version of the WowGo 3 eboard that was well received both by customers and critics alike.

As for the deck itself, it is constructed from bamboo and fiberglass and has a measure of 38*9 inches. I really like how flexy and comfortable this deck is. It reminds me of a traditional longboard.

Featuring two high-quality 600W belt-driven motors, this board gives you the stability you need while riding. The motors are quiet and ensure a smooth ride. They also help the board to achieve a top speed of 24 mph and climb 30-degree slopes easily.

Due to the use of belt-driven motors, the braking system of WowGo 3X has improved exponentially from its previous models.

As far as power goes, Samsung’s 3X technology is used, which gives the board a range of 12 miles, which isn’t bad compared to other boards in this price range.

This board also features 90 x 62mm PU wheels and a remote controller with an LCD screen. The 3X remote control has also been improved to handle the Samsung battery and the new motors.

This electric board also has some drawbacks, first, it is not ideal if you are more into long-range also you can’t kick-push this board.

Our Verdict:

WowGo 3X is not only suitable for beginners, but it is also highly appreciated by experts. It’s ideal for commuters looking for a real longboard experience. All of this is offered at an affordable price.

Best Off Road Electric Skateboard

4. Halo Board Beast Gen 2

Halo Board Beast
Speed: 26 MPH
Range: 25 MILES
Motor: 2x 1600W
Size: 37*9.75 INCHES
Weight: 23 LBS
Uphill: 25 DEGREE

The Good:

High-quality construction
Best for all-terrain
Incredible Performance

The Bad:

Bulky design

Why We Like It:

The Halo Board Beast Gen 2 is an Electric Skateboard that provides both power and performance. This board is a beast for both on-road and off-road riding. It has amazing durability and is constructed using high-quality maple wood.

Equipped with a dual direct drive brushless motor system that provides a total of 3200W of power, this board can easily reach a top speed of 26 mph. With its high power, hills up to 25 degrees are no problem.

Along with the motors, the 10.4 Ah battery works pretty well and allows the board to easily travel 25 miles on a single charge. The battery is protected from dirt, debris, and mud by a carbon fiber case.

A long maple deck of 37*9.75 inches contributes to making the ride both smooth and stable, as well as providing good stability and flexibility.

Although this electric longboard weighs about 23 lbs which is quite heavy, it is not that heavy if you compare it to the power it consists. Plus the board can bear a maximum weight of 286 pounds which is quite a lot.

This board features a set of all-terrain 120 mm wheels. Additionally, it can also be equipped with a set of all-terrain 120 mm wheels, which you might have to purchase separately. For the full experience of this board, a wheelset is an invaluable addition.

This board also got some downsides to it. The battery takes a long time of 4-5 hours to get fully charged. Also, I would not recommend this board if you are more into portability due to its bulky design.

Our Verdict:

Other than that the Halo Board Beast Gen 2 is one of the best all-terrain electric skateboards. Although it comes at a higher price range, it offers everything a professional rider would need due to its incredible riding experience and performance abilities.

Best for Budget

5. Meepo V3

Meepo V3
Speed: 28 MPH

Size: 38*9 INCHES
Weight: 17 LBS
Uphill: 30 DEGREE

The Good:

The Bad:

The Range is not so impressive

Why We Like It:

This board has got a lot to offer. Starting from the speed, it has got a phenomenal speed of 28 mph/45 kmph, a nice design, great controls, and an average range of  11 miles/18 km.

Meepo designed the board with eight layers of Canadian maple wood, so you don’t need to worry about its Durability. Plus, the board looks pretty decent, with a length of 38 inches. It weighs 17 lbs (7.2 kg) and can handle up to 300 lbs (136 kg), which is really impressive.

With the help of the two 540W hub motors, Meepo V3 can handle 30-degree slopes without breaking a sweat and can easily handle bumps and cracks, giving the rider a smooth ride. This board also comes with four ride modes and has Regenerative brakes.

Meepo made the fastest mode for speed devils, as it can take the board from 0 to 19 mph in just 4.5 seconds. It also comes with a nice and comfortable remote with a digital screen and has all the essential functions.

The only drawback about this board is it’s short-range, and the braking system may take a while to get used to, but the overall braking system is excellent.

Our Verdict:

I love every feature of this board. It has a decent look, a classy speed, and powerful motors and is perfect for both beginners and professionals.

This board also has a second variant, Meepo V3 ER (Extended Range) which has a 20 miles range.

Best for Commuting

6. Exway FLEX

Exway FLEX
Speed: 25 MPH
Range: 16 MILES
Motor: 2x 1000W
Size: 30*11.5 INCHES
Weight: 17 LBS
Uphill: 30 DEGREE

The Good:

Interchangeable drivetrain
Smart Battery System
Great value-for-money
High-quality design

The Bad:

Not suitable for hard carving

Why We Like It:

One of the first things you’ll notice about the Exway Flex electric skateboard is its stylish design. In addition to looking great, this board is also durable thanks to its high-quality materials. The deck is made out of high-quality maple wood and has a flexy concave.

With a length of 37 inches and a width of 11.5 inches, the Exway flex electric skateboard provides a comfortable ride. The Exway Flex includes dual motors that will provide up to 2000 watts of power for Hub and 2400W for Riot.

It can reach a top speed of 25 mph and has a range of about 20 miles, which is sufficient for most urban riders. Plus, you can carry multiple batteries to increase your overall range thanks to the swappable battery system.

Exway FLEX also features an interchangeable drivetrain, which allows you to change between hub motors and belt-driven motors very quickly.

Exway is still using the same remote that they used for their X1 series, which works pretty well but the LED screen might feel a little small. However, you can also control the acceleration and braking system and also perform some other awesome features using the Exway app.

Another great feature is the Smart Battery System. Every time the battery gets under more stress the remote would vibrate and show a warning ‘High Voltage Warning’ and if you slow down the acceleration or brakes at that time that would prolong the battery life.

In order to access the bolts and rear truck you have to pull out some of the griptape but other than that, this board has no other problems.

Our Verdict:

Exway Flex is perfect for those who are looking for their first electric skateboard. It has great control and great stability to help you gain confidence. Although it isn’t the fastest on the list, it offers enough power for many riders to be pleased, as well as a reliable range.

Best for Beginners

7. Backfire G2 Black

Backfire G2 Black
Speed: 24 MPH
Range: 12.5 MILES
Motor: 2x 400W
Size: 38*9 INCHES
Weight: 16.5 LBS
Uphill: 30 DEGREE

The Good:

Best choice for beginners
Affordable price
High build quality

The Bad:

Limited features

Why We Like It:

The second Backfire Electric Longboard on the list and also one of the best options for beginners. Although it does not have many features, it still makes its way to the Top 10 list because of its high built quality, excellent control, and stability.

The design of the board is simple but well constructed. The deck is slim, and the black color makes the board gender-neutral.

Despite being a mid-ranged board, it still has 2x 400W powerful motors, capable of going 30-degree slopes with high speed. This board has an incredible speed of 24 mph/38 kmph with an average range of 12.5 miles/20 km.

If we talk about the riding experience, this board is an absolute blast. It has excellent control and stability. Even at high speed, you would easily be able to control or turn this board. The 96mm wheels easily handle the bumps and cracks.

If you are a pro at E-Skateboarding, this board would not be the best fit for you as it is not suitable for making quick turns or kick turns.

Our Verdict:

The Backfire G2 has got some fine qualities. Although it has limited features, the overall board is excellent, best for beginners, and affordable.

Best for Stable Ride

8. Teamgee H20T

Teamgee H20T
Speed: 26 MPH
Range: 22 MILES
Motor: 2x 600W
Size: 38*9 INCHES
Weight: 21 LBS
Uphill: 30 DEGREE

The Good:

Durable Construction
Stable and Comfortable ride
Best for all types of Skateboarders
Reasonable price

The Bad:

The weight is quite heavy

Why We Like It:

Nothing is more important than comfort. The Teamgee H20T gives the most stable and comfortable ride. Not only is the board comfortable, but it also has tremendous performance and is great for both beginners and professionals.

The Teamgee H20T uses the drop-through deck, which is one of the reasons for its high stability. The deck is made of fiberglass and maple and is one of the sturdiest decks you will ever see.

The wide wheels of this board make up for the stiff deck and can absorb strong impacts. The wheels are made of rubber instead of polyurethane and are perfect for both road and offroad riding.

This board is equipped with 2x 600W powerful motors allowing it to achieve a top speed of 26 mph/42 kmph. It also has an impressive range of 22 miles/35 km.

It has a length of 38 inches and can handle up to 286 lbs/136 kg. Because of the high-powered 2x 600W motors, it is capable of going 30-degree slopes with stability.

Despite having a heavyweight, it still has a great acceleration as you can go from 0 to 26 mph in less than 5 seconds. The H20T also has four riding modes.

The braking system of this board is also smooth. But it may take some time to stop entirely, even at the highest braking mode. So keeping some distance from the vehicle in front is better.

This board does not have any downfalls, except that it does have a tail-light and is quite heavy.

Our Verdict:

Coming to an end, I’d say that Teamgee H20T is a remarkable Electric Skateboard. It has got all the great qualities, plus it has a very reasonable price for its provided features.

The Fastest Electric Skateboard on the list with futuristic looks, high-quality motors, and some cool features. This board provides the best carving experience a rider can wish for.

Breeze II’s deck is made of bamboo and three layers of glass fiber, adding a significant amount to the board’s durability and flexibility.

If speed is an essential factor for you, then this is definitely what you need because it can reach a top speed of 30 mph/48 kmph. It can also climb up to 30-degree slopes with ease. Skatebolt equipped the Breeze II with a 6000mAh lithium-ion battery allowing it to travel long distances up to 15 miles/24 km.

This board can handle up to 264 lbs (119 kg), and the board itself weighs about 21 lbs (9.6 kg). The wheels measure of this board is 100mm, and it comes with an extra pair of 90mm wheels.

Best for Sleek Design

10. Teamgee H5

Teamgee H5
Speed: 22 MPH
Range: 11 MILES
Motor: 2x 380W
Size: 38*8.7 INCHES
Weight: 13.7 LBS
Uphill: 20 DEGREE

The Good:

Slim and Sleek design
Good Stability
Reasonable price

The Bad:

The Range is not so impressive
Braking system could have been better

Why We Like It:

The Teamgee H5 quickly makes its way to the top 10 list because of its sleek and slim design and stability. One of its features is the drop-through deck, so its deck is 15-20mm lower than most of the E-Skateboards.

This board uses ultra-thin polymer lithium batteries, so the batteries just hide under the deck, making the board even more portable for commuting. This board is so slim that it looks like a regular skateboard.

The Teamgee H5 has a max speed of 22 mph/35 kmph and has a range of 11 miles/18 km. The best part is if you run out of battery, the board gets fully charged again in only 2-3 hours. This board also does pretty well on hill-climbing. It can easily make it up to a 20-degree slope.

Teamgee H5 may be slim, but it can still handle up to 200 lbs (90 kg). It’s 38 inches in length and 8.7 inches in width and weighs just 13.7 lbs(6.2 kg).

The Teamgee H5 comes with a decent remote control featuring a digital display. Moreover, this board has four different Riding modes. The controller even has a LED flashlight, so don’t worry about tripping in the dark.

The braking system and the Range of the Skateboard can use some improvements. Also, the features provided for its price range are very few.

Our Verdict:

Teamgee H5 is one of the best affordable Electric Skateboards. If you compare it to some other expensive models, they won’t be good in performance and stability as the Teamgee H5. Even though it does not have a good range, it still has an excellent design and speed, so I’d say it’s a pretty incredible investment.

What is an Electric Skateboard?

What is an Electric Skateboard?

Similar to a standard Skateboard but with some modifications. Electric Skateboards are used as personal transportation devices by people. An Electric Skateboard has a motor attached under the deck, which drives the Skateboard. A battery is used that powers up the motor.

In most Electric Skateboards, a handheld controller is used to control the speed and brake of the board. These controllers work on wireless signals.

Electric Skateboards usually weigh around 15 to 28 pounds (6.8 – 12.8 kg) and have a speed of 18 to 28 mph (29 – 45 km/h). And some few models can go up to 40 mph (65 km/h).

Major Types of Electric Skateboards

1. Longboards

Electric Longboard

Longboards, as defined by the name, have an extended deck. They are the original Skateboard. Longboards are considered ideal for beginners as they have a more extensive deck to place feet on and are more stable than the other types of Skateboard.

Usually, Longboards have a length from 32 to 42 inches. They have wider Trucks and Wheels for fast speed. Riding a Longboard feels like “Surfing on Ground.”

For beginners, I’d say a Longboard is the best choice because of the greater stability and smoothness.

2. Shortboards

Electric Shortboard

Shortboards are the most common type of Skateboard. When thinking of skateboards, Shortboards are usually what first come to mind.

Shortboards have a short and stiff deck and have small wheels which are close to each other. A regular Shortboard is mainly used to perform stunts and tricks.

So what is the purpose of an Electric Shortboard?

As the Shortboards have a shorter length and are lightweight, they are easy to carry around. That is why some people prefer Electric Shortboards because they know that it is much more portable.

3. Penny boards

Electric Penny board

Penny boards are tiny skateboards usually made of plastic. They are ultra-lightweight and are very portable.

They look a lot like Longboards but are shorter in length. Moreover, the wheels are pretty much like Longboards too. Penny boards are losing their popularity day by day. They are not as common as they used to be.

Nowadays, Electric Penny boards are made using maple. But there is a minimal variety of them. The biggest downfall of the Electric Penny board is its deck size, as there is very little space for your feet.

Best Electric Skateboards – Buyer’s Guide

So now you are here confused, nervous and you can’t decide which Electric Skateboard is best for you. Well, don’t worry because Skateboards Insider has got you covered.

As I went through the articles about the Best Electric Skateboards, I noticed that they lack quality information and do not guide their buyers on how to get the best product for themselves.

Here I will be talking about some major things to consider while buying an Electric Longboard. I’ll make sure that after reading this article and after buying your product, you would be more than happy knowing that you’ve made a perfect choice.

Reason for Buying?

The main question before buying an Electric Skateboard is, What are you going to use it for? Are you gonna use it for traveling on plain roads or for off-road traveling or maybe you just want to have fun with it.

So keeping in mind the real reason you should know what you need like if you are gonna need it for off-road you should get an E-board with more stability and road grip.

Budget

Budget for Electric Skateboard

The budget also plays an important part while buying an Electric Skateboard. They say, The more you invest the better the product, but not in this case. In this review of “Best Electric Skateboards”, all of the top 10 picks are great in every aspect. Each Skateboard serves its own purpose and you won’t have to invest a great amount of fortune.

Major Features

There are some major features to look for when buying an Electric Skateboard. It’s not just the Speed and Range, it’s really more than that. So let’s dive into the list.

1. Speed

Electric Skateboard Speed

Speed is what people notice first. Because of course, it’s better to have an Electric Skateboard with faster speed. But do you know that most of the riders don’t even go up to the max speed of their board? Not just because it gets really difficult to control the board, but also it gets very dangerous at high speed.

But if you are a Speed Devil,  you must take precautions and ride with all the safety equipment like a helmet, elbow and knee pads, and wrist guards.

2. Range

Electric Skateboard Range

It would be so annoying that you just got out to ride your board and suddenly the battery runs out. That is why you should prefer a board with a good Range. Even If you won’t travel long distances you should prefer a board with long-range. If you have to ride a lot on your board, you should prefer a board with at least 10 miles of range.

As we talk about the range the next thing related to the range is the charging time. A board that takes hours to charge is just not the right choice. The recommended charging time is 2-4 hours max.

3. Durability

Durability

This is a feature that people usually overlook and then regret because their E-board couldn’t take some little impact and broke. Even if an Electric Skateboard has a good speed and range, but has a bad build quality, then there is no point in buying it.

While selecting the Top 10 Best Electric Skateboards I made sure that every board on the list has a great Build quality.

4. Weight and Weight Limit

Weight

Before buying an Electric Longboard you should make sure that it has lightweight, as it will be easier to carry around. Even if the battery runs out and you have to kick your board back home a lightweight board will make the job much easier.

Another thing you should check is the weight limit of the Electric Skateboard. If your weight is more than the weight limit, that would decrease the board’s performance.

5. Stability

Stability

Skateboard companies are trying their best to make their Electric Skateboards as stable as they can be. Because without stability there is no fun in riding an Electric Skateboard.

Moreover, an Electric Skateboard with high Stability and Performance will give you the best experience.

6. Deck Size

Size

For beginners, I would suggest that they go for a longer deck size as they are easy to control. But if you already know the basics and want something compact in size then there is no harm in getting a Cruiser, Shortboard, or Penny board.

7. Brand

Electric Skateboard Brand

It is better to buy an Electric Skateboard from a trustworthy brand. Think about it, it’s like buying a car, and it can’t be a car from an unknown company. Moreover, trustworthy brands will give you a Warranty and if you face any issue you can contact Customer Service.
